LAKE MARY HIGH SCHOOL HIRES MICHAEL MITCHELL

Lake Mary Rams “Where Bright Futures Are Ignited.”

            Lake Mary, FL – Lake Mary High School, Seminole County, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Michael Mitchell as the third Band Director in our school’s twenty-nine year history.

 Mr. Mitchell is presently serving as the Band Director at Manning Oaks and Abbotts Hill Elementary School in Alpharetta, Georgia.  Mr. Mitchell has been at his present school since 2006.  Prior to his current assignment, Mr. Mitchell served as the Band Director at the following schools in Georgia: Northview High School (2005-2006), North Springs High School of the Arts (2004-2005), Valdosta Middle School (2000-2004). 

Prior to working in Georgia for ten years Mr. Mitchell served as a Band Director in Florida for sixteen years where he taught at Landon Middle School of the Arts (1998-2000), Sandalwood High School (1994-1998), Landmark Middle School (1990-1994), Sandalwood Jr./Sr. High (1985-1990), and where his career first began at Jefferson Davis Junior High (1984-1985).

Over his career his bands had twenty one straight years of superior ratings at festivals.  His bands earned the “5 Year Superior Award” from the FBA for Outstanding Band Program.  He has given several professional development clinics for the Florida Bandmasters Association’s Annual Conference.  He conducted the FBA 1996 All State Middle School Honors Band as well as conducted twenty-eight District and County Honor Bands throughout Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Indiana, and Pennsylvania.

 On a personal note, Mr. Mitchell has been married for over twenty six years and has two children.  Mr. Mitchell and his family will reside in the Central Florida area while maintaining a residence in the Atlanta area as well.
