WHAT IS COLOR GUARD?
Members of the LMHS Color Guard perform on the field with the LM Marching Rams and the LM Marionettes during halftime shows for the first half of the school season.  These three groups also perform from the bleachers during the 1st, 2nd and 4th quarters of the games.  The purpose of the guard is to interpret the music that the marching band or drum and bugle corps is playing via the synchronized work of flags, sabres, rifles, the air blade, and through dance.  See our Video Page for You Tube presentations of past half time shows.

After the holidays, the LMHS Color Guard heads into Winter guard competition.  Winter guard is an indoor color guard sport derived from military ceremonies or veterans organizations ceremonies.  Unlike traditional color guard, winter guard is performed indoors, usually in a gymnasium or an indoor arena.

Performances make use of recorded music rather than a live band or orchestra. Winter guard was invented in the United States, where to date is still by far the most predominant scene for the sport. Winter guard ensembles commonly perform at judged competitions officiated by local and regional associations using criteria developed by Winter Guard International.  LMHS's final championships are held at the Ocean Center in Daytona, FL.  See our WinterGuard Page
for YouTube Video's of past Winter guard highlights.
