35th Annual LMHS Awards Band Banquet
On May 20th at 6:30pm at the Westin Hotel in Lake Mary, we will once again be showcasing our students and their accomplishments throughout the year. This is an exciting event that culminates all of our activities from this 2015-2016 school year. All students parents, relatives sister/brothers, aunts/uncles, boyfriends/girlfriends are invited to attend the cost is only $25 per person. This is a dress up affair so plan accordingly. Seniors will receive a free ticket provided that all financial obligations to the band have been met. The deadline for signing up for the banquet is May 12th and all payments MUST be received by that date. This years banquet will be a plated dinner and not a buffet as in previous years.

CONGRATULATIONS to both the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble for outstanding performances at the 2016 Music Performance Assessment of the Florida Bandmasters Association. The Wind Ensemble performed Thursday evening to a large crowd and wowed the audience with Grade 6 college music. All of the concert judges gave the band straight A's on the rating sheets and commented on how amazing the band sounded and how impressed they were with the band's preparation and technical facility. The Symphonic Band performed Friday evening at 6pm and once again amazed the judges and earned a Straight Superior rating from all the judges. This is the first time in over a decade and a half that the symphonic band has earned a Straight Superior rating at MPA. I must say that I am very proud of both groups and their dedication to making wonderful music. We are all looking forward to the rest of the year and all of the activities that we have planned. Keep the band calendar on the refrigerator and make plans to attend! Again, congrats to both bands on an outstanding performance.
2016 Marching Band Schedule
We are beginning to look toward our end of the year band awards banquet and need your help. Each year we ask seniors to give us information on where you will be going to college, what are your best memories of your time here at LMHS and several other questions that we would like to put in the program. So, below is a link for you to fill out and send back via email so you can get your "Last Will and Testament" placed in the banquet program. We also need two pictures from you as well. A Baby Picture and your senior picture. We will have a video presentation highlighting you and your time with us as well. All of these things are due by April 15th. In years past, students who have not done this because they "forgot" or just didn't think it was worth it, really regret not doing it. SO, get it done as quickly as you can.
Also, parents you can place a short shout out to your senior as well at no charge. This form is also attached to the Senior Wills flyer. Please do this a soon as possible so we may get it set up and ready for the banquet in May. The email address of where to send them are attached to the forms.
Washington Trip a Huge Success
A total of 61 students and parents braved the elements and traveled to Washington DC during spring break for our Band Trip. It was great to be in a place with so much rich history and to have seen the sights of all the monuments and our founding fathers documents was absolutely amazing.
100% Superior at State!
5 of our talented students attended State Solo and Ensemble MPA in Jacksonville on March 21st and wowed the judges-earning Superior rating on their performances. Emily Kipp, Frances Hoffen, Daniel Price, Nick Barrios and Anecia Inbornone each traveled to north Florida/Jacksonville and played their solos for college level judges. The comments from the judges were amazing as are these wonderful musicians. Congratulations to these fine musicians for earning their Superiors and thank you for representing our school and band so impressively!
Our final concert of the year will be on Wednesday, May 11th at 6:30pm in the LMHS Nielsen/Pattishall Auditorium. The concert is Free and open to the public. Both Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble will be performing as well as students who earned Superior at State Solo MPA. It is going to be a great night of memorable music. Please make plans to attend this wonderful event.
