We had a great day at FSU band day on Saturday. Even in the rain the band students find a way to have a good time. From the skull session to the 9 hours on the charter buses, to the 1 hour at the McDonalds at midnight, it was a great trip. Getting back at 4am Sunday morning made for a very tiring trip, but again YOUR kids were great. Looking forward to the rest of the year with your kids and my wonderful LMHS Band students!

New Trailer for our Band
Many of your did see our new trailer that we received about a month ago. Thank you for all the positive comments regarding our new "ride". We will not have to rent a Penske truck each week at the cost of about $150 plus gas. Plus, the Penske Truck was not as safe for our kids who had to load equipment on a small ramp. We have been putting away a little each year in a savings account to pay for the Band Trailer. The total cost was $4400. It was purchased locally from a company on HWY 46-ALL PRO TRAILERS. Many other school band programs own trailers as well, and now after 33 years, the LMHS Band has one. Mr. Morris has volunteered to pull it with his 8 cylinder truck and he is very use to pulling a trailer larger that this one! Anyone else who would like to volunteer to pull this band trailer, we would love to hear from you! It's going to be an amazing year!

Our New Field
2014 Band Camp is in the books and it was HUGELY successful. Thanks to everyone who came out to watch your kids march their opener of the Beatles Show-AND-thank you too for your flexibility as to where the "showcase" was going to be. We did not find out until 4:45pm that we were going to be allowed to march on the field. THANK YOU MR. KOTKIN and MR. PETERS for giving us the honor of being the first to christen the LMHS field. It was a moment in the lives of our kids that will last a lifetime!
Kudos go out to all of the parents who volunteered their time to come out to band camp to chaperone our kids. YOU WERE A HUGE HELP! And to our staff and leadership-you were amazing! School starts on August 11th with our first rehearsal on the new field on August 12th from 6-8:30pm. Red shirts, tennis shoes and water bottles...let's do it!
